A Break of Sunshine in this lousy Smarch Weather

You're probably wondering why is LW/OFB on facebook? This is only for a limited time, as we would like to interrupt our usual monthly blogcast for an important announcement:

On Saturday March 24th 2012, in the courtyard of Banff Springs Fairmont, Ryan asked Sarah to marry him... she said yep!

And the story goes......

After working through the long, kind of cold, dull winter it was time for us to take a vacation. We had decided to take off to Banff, considering we would only afford a "staycation" as most call it. We left on Friday, but let me begin to tell you of how amazingly easy and smooth it was:

As a female, I will admit I like to pack various cute outfits on a trip. So then it takes me a bit of time trying to coordinate these said outfits. But not this time, it was like "okay, friday I'm wearing this....saturday this...ect". Ryan was surprised, as he actually packed more than I did. Not to mention that morning when I got up, my hair was perfect, as if the little birds from disney came in from the window and I sang with them, and they did my hair. I knew then it was going to be a good vacation.

We packed the Jeep up, and headed out on the trecherous roads, and managed to make it there in one piece and in good time. I've only been to Banff, twice prior. The first time in 2010 on a super fun Nurses trip and last summer briefly with Ryan's family on our way home from Fairmont. I never experienced what it was like to actually stay in Banff until now.

We arrived at The Fox and were offered an upgrade from our little cavernous room we had booked prior. We thought why not. Good choice indeed!

As you can see, definitely worth the tiny extra cost just to have a small chalet room! Considering we have kind of a lofty-love-nest kind of master bedroom at home, it was fitting to have a loft room in the mountains.

Before setting off on the town, we went to the pool, or as some call it, pool-cave!

We ate dinner at the Saltlik later on that evening.

Ryan had the pulled pork sandwich and I, a bunless burger called the Royale with Cheese (how could I turn that down?) With a double rum, and really good tunes, we would recommend this place for a lax and hip joint to plant your bottom.

We slept well that night, ventured down to the free breakfast, as stated by Ryan (stating someone else) "if it's free, there's usually a catch".
                Yeah, it was poop.

Thats the catch. Besides some cemented eggs, over processed goop, there was nothing noted to be humanely digestable. So we set out to a gluten free bakery,

Celiacs out there take *note: The best chocolate chip banana muffins are here. It's worth the drive, and it's not too pricey at all! Ryan had a GF chocolate brownie with a spiced chai~ all super delish! Perfect start to our morning, especially with our favorite music playing in the background and the sun shining on our happy faces <3
We spent the majority of the day roaming the streets of Banff, and basking in the lovely mountain sunlight.

Pretty much what I thought is by far the best morning /afternoon of my life.

Apparently, for the past 3 years, Ryan had been eyeing up the same cowboy hat in the same store, everytime he was in Banff. That day I made his dreams come true: Ryan became a cowboy :D

We went to a cute little Christmas store, Ryan to look at the miniature towns and me, to look at some new earrings <3

 Never a dull moment...........

It was starting to get into the evening time, and Ryan was starting to act a little nervous....he said it was his stomach, so we went back to hotel, went into the pool cave, then got ready for dinner.

 The view outside our room

To the right, the opening to the pool cave.

We had reservations at the Banffshire at 7:30, Ryan wanted to show me the mountain views from the courtyard, so we walked around while I had a minor freakout with my camera because the view was absolutely breath taking.
Then he asked me to come sit at this bench right in the middle of the courtyard, my stomach was doing flips, but it would be in my best interest to do what he says.
The coldness from the bench that my behind was feeling soon disappeared as he pulled out a piece of paper; a love note, one of many he has written to me. I am so glad he wrote what he said to me down, as I don't completely remember! However, I have the letter now, and when I am able to read it without bursting into tears, I'll show it to you, otherwise you'll have to wait. On the back of the paper it wrote: "Sarah Holly Todd Braun, Will You Marry Me?"
The bench where he proposed
I started to sob. Almost at the brink of ugly face crying,
I managed to pull together what I could for words,
but to my dismay the only word I could muster out
of my mouth was a "Yep".
Of course when I could see straight, there he was on his knee, with the most beautiful twist tie he made for me a year ago, when he initially proposed. Okay, and a breathtaking ring.    There you have it.

 The story begins......
with the expectation that I would be able to function, we went to dinner.

Dinner was amazing, unreal, and exceptional. The best night of my life so far............

                                                  We are definitely schmucks soulmates!
